Loopworkshop Brandenburg
CRE8 gave a workshop in a German Highschool north of Berlin in Treuenbietzen that just started a partnership with another school in Ethopia. The workshop was a successful and inspiring collaboration with VIVA LA HUMANIDAD and Axl Makana, the singer of the German Band Mutabor and CRE8 artist Ole Ukena.
CRE8 entered the already flowing process of cultural exchange by offering ways in how to establish a real crative exchange with the kids in Germany and Afrika. The idea is to create a song together and use elements of sounds to inspire each other in creating a collaborative piece of music. After exploring the idea of collaborative artworks through the medium of drawing the kids learned about the basics of “live-looping”, a way to sample your own voice, repeat it and create layer by layer an entire song. CRE8 is very happy about the collaboration with VIVA LA HUMANIDAD and suggests checking out their homepage to learn more about the afrikan partnerschool in Ethopia which will be joining the creative process as soon as our workshops continue there.
Looping is a lot of fun.

Collageworkshop in Berlin
Collageworkshop in Berlin with Hanna Rix & Ole Ukena
29. & 30. of May /// 15:00 – 19:00
In this workshop we invite all the kids from Berlin to join us during the weekend to cut, paste, draw, erase and create collages of how you see yourself.
This workshop accompanies the running exhibition by Berlin based artist Hanna Rix who works primarly with collage techniques.
Similar workshops will be held in various asian countries (India, Indonesia, Thailand) and ultimatly searching the dialogue in between different groups of kids from different countries.
Questions of how we perceive ourselves, how we see the “other”, what we are all made of and what is important to us will all accompany the process.
The workshop takes place in Spielraum – Projectspace for Creativity in Kreuzberg, Berlin.
The workshop is free of charge.
Please tell in advance if you would like to come via email (mail@spielraumberlin.de) or through a phone call at +491711968132.
Adress is: Reichenberger Str. 28 / 10965 Berlin
2nd Art Exhibition at Ramana´s Garden / Rishikesh, India
For two years running, CRE8 has hosted an art exhibition at Ramana’s Garden Orphanage in Rishikesh, India. The event was similarly staged each year. In both years, interactive art stations, especially those which featured play between kids and guests, were the primary highlight. Ramana’s wholesome tasty organic food, musical, theater, and dance performances, and the displayed kids’ and professional artwork also shone brightly.
The primary motivation behind the events was to raise awareness and funds for the orphanage, in a fun way. Guest musicians joined in a musical jam session. Other visitors enjoyed a theater production about saving the Ganges River performed and collaboratively written by the kids. Intergalactic aliens showed up in all shapes and sizes (on paper!), The Magic Tree danced in the wind, and our simple but powerful Ping Pong concept was on full display.
Activity at the café was record-setting (2010 breaking the record set in 2009) and artpieces and photographs were sold. Guests came out in droves and left with broad grins and full bellies. And best of all, the kids’ proud faces most readily gave away that the exhibitions were successful. Because of the great success, we plan to make the exhibition an annual tradition.
